They say the pen is mightier than the sword En guard Mr. Sword Blogs, Tweets, and Social hubbub |

I am currently the "Social Media Chef" for Basil T's Brewery and Italian Grill in Red Bank, New Jersey, and Undici Taverna Rustica in Rumson, New Jersey. The title "Social Media Chef" covers the wide range of things I do for the two restaurants such as copywriting/blogging, manage and market through Facebook and Twitter, shoot and edit video for YouTube, and write, compile, and release monthly newsletters. In a nutshell I create and coordinate all the delicious content surrounding the restaurants, and serve it up to the customers. Video recipies, updates on special offers, articles on Itlian foods and ingredients, travel videos, and a wide spectrum of things Italian wine and food lovers enjoy. Also, keep an eye on www.SocialMediaChef.net for my upcoming mouth-watering blog on being The Social Media Chef Writings of a Writer is my main blog at the moment, although this blog and The Prestopedia Blog will soon be reorganized as one central blog. Writings of a Writer focuses on creative writing, blogging, writing and how it pertains to communication (online and offline) short fiction, creative non-fiction, a healthy dash of poetry, and my thought son different aspects of writing. The tagline better expresses this: “Thoughts, Stories, and Writings about Travels, Conversations, and Ideas.”
The Prestopedia Blog is about “information, perspective, and plenty of opinion on Social Media and our digital lives,” as the tagline so eloquently puts it. If Twitter adds a new feature or Facebook changes its services, you can bet I’ll post about it and how it might affect you, me, and the social media industry, with plenty of opinion sprinkled in.

Being able to express your message clearly, creatively, coherently, and convincingly is key to communicating to an online audience. Although new media offers many mediums in which to do this, effective communication stems from effective writing and a solid understanding of the ever growing digital landscape. As a creative writer, college graduate majoring of Literature, and long time social media advocate, I understand these two elements (effective writing and knowlege of new media) in an organic type of way. Besides having daily personal familiarity with social media, I have knowledge and experience in how social media can play an important role in marketing and branding. I created a social media marketing plan for FURminator Inc., a company that ranked 39th in the Inc Magazine’s list of top 500 fastest growing privately owned companies in 2008. I launched and maintained their YouTube, Facebook, and Myspace accounts, writing all the content to go with them along the way as well as a business plan for future development. I also am an avid reader of social media marketing blogs and websites such as Smart Blogs on Social Media and Mashable; I stay up to date on the latest news and trends of this new marketing medium. I also believe providing good writing and thoughtful, relevant content to the users you’re trying to reach is core of any successful social media marketing or branding endeavor. |

Fiction, Short Stories, Poetry |
||
| Most of the fiction and stories I write tends (or at least tries) to be funny. I also write creative non-fiction based on first hand experiences from time to time, usually posted on my writing blog. Some of my other works have experimental forms, playing with language and form as they mingle with the content. My college career has given me a strong background and experience in writing; I’ve taken two advanced fiction workshops, an experimental writing workshop, literary research, screenwriting, and many others. You can find samples of my writing in the Porterfolio. | ||
Writing for Print/Companies |
||
| My writing flexibility extends to writing for print and for companies who want to give their products/services some creative style. I wrote an article for FURminator Inc, which was published in Groomer to Groomer magazine in the September 2008 and also wrote for and edited their monthly newsletter. Copies of both these writings can be found in Work @ Work section of the Porterfolio. Some great examples of companies that use creative writing to their advantage in their brand are woot.com and Glacéau (makers of Vitamin Water). | ||
Other Fun Things |
||
Other things I do are downhill longboard skateboarding, (which I make YouTube videos of, some of which have been featured in the Loaded Longboards weekly longboarding newsletters) going to the beach, listening to and sometimes attempting to make music, reading, movies, video gaming, and writing, if you didn’t pick up on that already. |
